I haven't had any problems so far, but they would be a deal-breaker. I'm also concerned by comments relating to issues of compatibility with the MacBook. This is the Benchmark Audio support model which, for me, distinguishes real customer support from the community approach that is merely a convenience to the company. I preferred sending in a question and Damien, et al, responding. Now, what I don't like is the vague support system which seems to rely on the "community". I hope to have more to say on this down the road. The Studio download went fine and, though early days, I am very impressed with Studio over Plus. I am running the Benchmark amp and DAC3L with the LA4 preamp to be added soon. As a long-time Tidal subscriber, I have no issues with subscriptions so long as there is performance value for the investment. I was surprised by the subscription business model and to learn that my current software is now a "legacy". I've used Audirvana for years, but less so over the last several months. I recently initiated the 30-day trial of Studio. A two-tiers subscription model, where you can pay more if you need web-based services, but you can also pay less, if you don’t need them. A wishlist website where customers who support the business can submit requests, vote for them, see the upcoming new features ahead of time. A decent permanent license software that works. I am sorry to say that for me to be willing to commit to a subscription-based model, the bar should be raised higher: no way to parse all metadata, only the main ones. It plays only the selected track and then it stops, I can hardly believe it works this way. Poor display of metadata, with inline scrolling and poor usage of screen estate. no way to jump backward/fwd in playback using arrow keys, which is the minimum I’d expect from a music player. Search by name is broken, you select one album in the search results, and it still takes you to a list that includes all albums, so you have to choose again. Those like me who supported Audirvana+ over the years are now left with two choices: pay a high monthly fee for a service they don’t need, or keep using Audirvana+, aware of the fact that it’s not going to get any support and improve over time. A large portion of the UI in Audirvana studio is dedicated to streaming services that I am not interested in (considering the poor quality of masters you are going to get on those services), but you still have to deal with a UI and monthly-based subscription model that forces you into the online steaming model. All three devices are computers which need constant maintenance.Damien may have done a fantastic job at developing the best music player on the market, but sadly, the software is plagued by usability issues and generally speaking, a mediocre user experience. I would get into the habit of updating your music software program, your DAC firmware and the Ultra Rendu firmware. You will find that going into this page and hitting SAVE will cure most of issues 99% of the time however once the issue becomes continuous you need to update software which typically are updated monthly. If you are using DLNA then scroll down on the DLNA page and hit SAVE. Now go to under system and Hit save under the application you are using. Then after the soft reboot do a hard reboot.įinally once its up again and before you do anything else, reboot the DAC. Once the software is updated then soft reboot the unit. Yes it will still say V2.7 regardless but nevermind that the software needs to be updated once a month. Go to MySonicorbiter for the latest software. Please update the software once a month on the unit. According to Sonore, even if the UR is at 2.7, download new software anyway. Specturm found a coax cable outside my house with a crack in it and water was getting in.Īlso, although this didn’t fix either issue, make sure your Ultrarendu software is up to date (2.7). More recently, I had a problem with my internet and although I could surf the web (slow), Audirvana would load, but not play. I had a couple of issues similar to this and in one case, I had to unplug my Sonos Bridge from the switch.
